As a muslim, what can we do to preserve our faith?

The word muslim indicates the state of the individual. By submitting one’s desires, one’s ego, to Almighty Allah, the person has in fact obeyed Allah.

He or she has submitted his or her total wishes to His/Her Creator.

Allah says:

«  In reality the most honoured among you, in the sight of Allah, is he who is most pious.«

(Al-Qur’an 49:13)

Now, if a person is born within a muslim’s family, he is traditionally a muslim. His name is muslim but how do we know whether he is a muslim by heart or not?

Though, only Allah sees the inner secret of hearts, yet actions speak for themselves!!!

For example, a person who does two or three swalaat per day

A person who is shy to greet salaam to his brother when he is in front of non muslims

A person who feels disgusted when others talk about islam and pious activities in front of him.

There are in fact many indications.

This is why, we should earnestly ask for repentance and guidance from Almighty Allah.

We are living in such a world where every pious action is difficult to implement. This is so because our enemy, shaitan has taken hold of every family due to our own disobedience and lethargy.

Our mission on earth is to prevent all evil and to establish peace on earth. But what happen, we are afraid of reminding our brothers lest they may get angry against us while we are not afraid of committing sins publicly

This is a formulae that you should learn by heart

Taqwa + Adaab = paradise

How about those muslims who make swalaat 5 times a day plus the tahajjud plus other nawafil but when it comes to dealing with the humankind are wicked in their words and action?

And how about those bearded muslim men who subdue girls and women to all sorts of atrocities on them in the name of Islaam, Allah taala and his Prophet (s.w.a). Are they muslims?

If these people are muslims and they are going to enter paradise as you say then surely, May Allah protect me from this paradise!!!

We thank sister Noorjahan for her commentary.

We must always remind ourselves that it is dangerous for ourselves and for the writers, to read only part of an article and to discuss about it.

We must read the article from the beginning to its end and ask Allah’s guidance before interpreting it or before showing any negativity towards it.

May Allah protect us from this insha Allah

Secondly, the article has given few examples of people who are weak of faith….it is impossible to portrait all the archetypes of sinners.

Next, the article starts with ego, desires….doesn’t it answer your question? if a musalli has vices, has egos, he must come back to Allah and ask for forgiveness.

But remember, shirk is the biggest sin. Then, the first question set to you, will be your swalaat. It is not up to us to decide which sin is bigger.

Moreover, the article speaks about  » to prevent all evil » – it is up to the reader to ponder about each and every word…

Your last sentence gives an indication about your state of mind and your consideration.

    Bismillah;
My friend Noorjahan, i would like to answer to your comment, though am only a student of knowledge, still i feel somehow i should try in answering you for lest i don’t, i am not doing my job and if ever i am acting ignorantly may Allah (swt) the oft-forgiving forgives me!

Coming back to your point: firstly in sura 103 Allah (swt) says: « By Al-’Asr (the time). (1) Verily, man is in loss, (2) Except those who believe (in Islâmic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, and recommend one another to the truth (i.e. order one another to perform all kinds of good deeds (Al-Ma’ruf) which Allâh has ordained, and abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds (Al-Munkar) which Allâh has forbidden), and recommend one another to patience (for the sufferings, harms, and injuries which one may encounter in Allâh’s Cause during preaching His religion of Islâmic Monotheism or Jihâd). (3)  » the message that we can derive from this sura is that it is our job to help our brethren towards achieving good and refraining from evil, but how do we go about doing that when we ourselves are mere ignorant who simply live a traditional Islam!! WE NEED TO EDUCATE OURSELVES AND RISE AGAINST INJUSTICE BECAUSE ISLAM IS A RELIGION ‘A WAY OF LIFE’ THAT DEFINES PEACE! How could it be that the first ever word revealed is READ (Which we can in this context use as knowledge) and yet so many of us for some reason or the other distance ourselves from this very important requirement!

Second point: IT IS NOT BEFITTING FOR US TO JUDGE OTHERS BASED ON THEIR EXTERNAL OUTLOOK, FOR REMEMBER ALLAH ALONE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO JUDGE OTHERS AND FURTHERMORE ALLAH WILL NOT JUDGE SOMEONE BASED ON THEIR EXTERNAL APPEARANCES BUT RATHER OF WHAT THEY CONCEAL IN THEIR HEARTS AND THEIR INTENTIONS!

Third Point: REMEMBER THIS AHADITH WHERE UMAR (ra) WAS PASSING A LAW IN THE COURT REGARDING THE DOWRY AND THIS WOMAN RAISED UP AGAINST THAT FOR IN SOMEWAYS IT REPRESENTED INJUSTICE AS ALLAH HASN’T GIVEN ANY LIMIT TO THE AMOUNT OF DOWRY ASKED, THEREFOR UMAR(RA) ACKNOWLEDGED HIS MISTAKE AND DECLARED THE LADY RIGHT, WE DON’T KNOW THE NAME OF THE LADY BECAUSE APPARENTLY SHE WASN’T SOMEONE ‘VERY IMPORTANT IN TERMS OF SHAHBIYAT’  » SO THIS SHOWS YOU THAT YOU HAVE A DUTY TO DO IN THIS WORLD, FOR ALLAH SENT YOU AS AN AMBASSADOR ON HIS EARTH TO ENJOIN GOOD AND FORBID EVIL, FURTHERMORE THE PROPHET (SAW) SAID IN A NARRATION « THAT WHEN YOU SEE SOMETHING BAD REPEL IT WITH YOUR HANDS, IF YOU CAN’T THEN WITH YOUR TONGUE, IF YOU CANT THEN CURSE IT IN YOUR HEART, AND THAT IS THE LOWEST LEVEL OF IMAAN »

Fourth Point: « The believers, men and women, are Auliyâ’ (helpers, supporters, friends, protectors) of one another; they enjoin (on the people) Al-Ma‘rûf (i.e. Islâmic Monotheism and all that Islâm orders one to do), and forbid (people) from Al-Munkar (i.e. polytheism and disbelief of all kinds, and all that Islâm has forbidden); they perform As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât), and give the Zakât, and obey Allâh and His Messenger. Allâh will have His Mercy on them. Surely Allâh is All-Mighty, All-Wise. »(S9V71)”YOUR ROLE IN THAT IS TO UNDERSTAND YOUR MISSION AND THE ONLY WAY TO ACHIEVE THAT IS FOR YOUR TO GO BACK AND REFER TO WHAT QURAN AND HADITH ARE SAYING, EDUCATE YOURSELF AND STAND UP FOR THE TRUTH, ALTHOUGH YOU MIGHT END UP ALONE REMEMBER ALLAH WILL NEVER FORSAKE YOU!! EQUALLY IF THOSE PEOPLE YOU MENTIONED ARE
TRULY GOD FEARING PEOPLE THEN YOU WILL BE A WINNER IN FRONT OF ALLAH FOR YOU WILL BE REMINDING THEM AND BRINGING THEM TO MEND THEIR ACTIONS BUT IF THEY ARE FAKE THEN ALLAH INDEED IS THE BEST JUDGE AND THE HARSHEST IN PUNISHMENT!

IT’S HIGH TIME FOR US TO STOP BEING COMPLACENT AND CONTINUES TO LIVE THIS STEREOTYPE WAY OF THINKING, ALLAH GAVE YOU TALENTS, SO USE IT TO THE BEST OF YOUR ABILITY FOR HIS SAKE FOR YOU CANNOT CHANGE THE WORLD BUT YOU CAN START CHANGING THE WAY YOU PERCEIVE THINGS AND THEN ONLY THE BIGGER AND MOST IMPORTANT CHANGE/DIFFERENCE WILL HAPPEN.

    VERILY ALLAH KNOWS BEST!

    Assalamoualaikoum, Humayrah,
These are real words of wisdom!!! I felt them deep into my heart. Sometimes, our muslim community and its hypocrisy and the hypocrisy of its men make me angry and wild that I become completely blind. I often become angry with Allah and blame him for His laws. I cry to Him, with all my heart, to always let Jews and Christians keep the upper hand on Muslim men, till the day of judgements because they treat muslim women better under their laws than Muslim men do. In fact, Muslim men often use or misuse Allah’s law to crush Muslim girls and women. Insha Allah, May Allah help you acquire more knowledge so that you can shed His Light into the hearts of people.
    Maasalaam.
    Love and Peace.

    esselamu ala menit’taba’ alHudaa!

adjahl (nescience) is the situation from all of us at the beginning, but the badest thing what could happen to us in this case is adjahl’un Murakkab (dark/advanced nescience). Inshaallah we all shoud give the greatest effords to lern this Deen correct before we make publications. If there exist 5 Pillars of Islam an 6 terms of Imaan then it is not enough to speak them only whith your tongue, we must lern them in detail. Only on that condition your Imaan & Islam become’s real and not other way’s like piousness and Heart pribble-prabble, because ahlukitab is pious too but ALLAH swt says they will be dropped in to Djahannam because of the wrong understanding of Imaan.
The greatest Problem of the Umma nowdays is on the right understandig of Tawhid.
Lern first Tawhid then your piousness and heart will take right effects.

La Haula wa la kuwwata illahabillaha!
